Armed Defense Fundamental Intro to Competition - Pistol 1

Intro to Competition- Pistol

This course is designed for individuals who want to confidently step into the world of USPSA competition shooting, whether you’re brand new or looking to refine your understanding before your first match.

Throughout the class, we’ll guide you through the entire process—from how to register for a match and what to expect on match day, to proper competition etiquette and safety standards. You’ll learn how to present yourself professionally, what behaviors are expected, and what actions can lead to penalties or disqualification (DQ).

We also introduce foundational movement skills with a firearm in a competitive setting, helping you begin to think beyond static shooting and develop efficiency, control, and awareness.

In addition, we break down USPSA scoring in detail, including how stages are evaluated and how hit factor scoring works—teaching you how points and time combine to determine your final score and placement. We also provide a clear overview of the different divisions so you can choose the right category for your gear and goals.

By the end of the class, you’ll not only understand how USPSA works—you’ll feel prepared, confident, and ready to safely participate in your first match.
